Presentation materials from the Wisconsin County HIPAA Essentials Workshops,
August 2002
The Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS) teamed up
with HIPAA COW (HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin) and the federal
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to present a two day
workshop on the essentials of HIPAA.
What was presented:
The agenda consisted of one full day covering HIPAA Transactions and
Code Sets, and one full day covering HIPAA Privacy and an introduction
to Security. The forum emphasized practical, how-to guidance on
compliance for county and municipal human service agencies. The workshops
also introduced you to the HIPAA gap analysis and tracking tool
selected by the State of WI and offered attendees the opportunity to
attend a mini-session on how to use
the tool and learn it's features and benefits. This tool will assist you in
becoming compliant with HIPAA.
