Early Childhood Systems

The MCH Program proposes to address the eight priority areas identified through the 2010 needs assessment process through a systems-building approach using the Life Course Framework (exit DHS).  This framework is research-based on how each stage of life influences the next.  Developmental periods exist when the timing of exposures to risk factors most impact health.  Early childhood is a critical developmental period with lifelong health impact.

From 2011-2015 MCH Block Grant funding is supporting early childhood systems through two initiatives:

  1. Wisconsin Healthiest Families
  2. Keeping Kids Alive
