Mental Health and Co-occurring Substance Abuse Recovery

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) states “Mental Health recovery is a journey of healing and transformation enabling a person with a mental health problem to live a meaningful life in a community of his or her choice while striving to achieve his or her full potential.”

In Wisconsin we believe that recovery from mental health and substance abuse is the expectation, not the exception.  People living with and recovering from these issues are vital components of our communities, families, and service delivery systems.  We believe that individuals need knowledge and information in order to gain and maintain their wellness.  We value our professionals, our peers and our partners not only in the mental health system but in our broader communities.  Recovery is about not just surviving but thriving!
