Winnebago Mental Health Institute - Forensic Services

Forensic Services consists of four units:

  • Petersik Hall North is a 29-bed, all male, admission, assessment, and treatment unit. Services are provided in a medium security setting.

  • Petersik Hall South is a 29-bed, all female, admission, assessment and treatment unit. Services are provided in a medium security setting.

  • Choices is a 44-bed, gender specific, minimum-security, general psychiatric unit. Programming includes modalities designed to improve cognitive distortions and preparation for community reintegration.

  • Gemini is a 22-bed, coed, minimum security treatment program that serves patients with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) issues. Gemini also offers medications for substance dependence. The physician is experienced in the use of naltrexone, acamprosate and buprenorphine and is a DEA certified Suboxone prescriber.

Treatment malls in Petersik Hall and Gordon Hall utilize multidisciplinary staff to provide treatment groups designed to meet the specific needs of the patients. A thorough assessment process identifies individual patient treatment needs. The aggregate of this information is used to design programming in the treatment malls and is modified on an ongoing basis.
