FEDERAL OFFICIALS APPROVE FAMILY CARE RENEWAL REQUEST

MADISON—Department of Health Services Secretary Dennis G. Smith, today announced that the Department’s Family Care waiver renewal request has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The renewal is approved through December 31, 2014. Secretary Smith offered the following statement:

“Approval of our Family Care renewal request is great news for Wisconsin individuals with disabilities and frail elders who rely on long-term care services,” said Secretary Smith, “We would like to thank CMS for their hard work and attention on our waiver request. We will now be able to focus our efforts on implementing reforms outlined in our sustainability plan that will allow us to provide long-term care services in a coordinated, efficient manner, as well as providing the supports these citizens need to live well in their communities.”
