WPHA/WALHDAB
Conference materials are available on the WPHA website, posted on
the events page under the annual conference. If you need a
presentation, or want to share a session with colleagues, materials
can be assessed at:

Barbara A. Lange Memorial Award in Health Education - Two
award categories (local practitioner and regional/statewide
practitioner) are available to recognize a colleague for efforts in
health education and health promotion. The deadline for receipt of
nomination materials is March 1, 2013.

The WPHA Awards Committee is currently seeking nominations for awards to be presented at
the 2013 Annual Public Health Conference, May 21-23 at the Wilderness
Hotel, Glacier Canyon Lodge in Wisconsin Dells. The Awards Committee
accepts nominations throughout the year; however, for a nomination to be
considered for the 2013 Annual Conference, the deadline for
submission is Friday, April 12, 2013. Nominations received after that
date may be re-submitted for the next annual conference.

Loriann Wunder, Training and Communications
Coordinator for the DPH STD Control Program, would like to invite you and
your staff to sign up for the Wisconsin STD Communications Listserv (WISTDCOM) if you are
not already on it. The WISTDCOM is a Listserv that periodically shares
information on the prevention and control of STDs in Wisconsin. The
Listserv is aimed at staff in LHDs, STD Clinics, Tribal Health Clinics,
and other stakeholder agencies. Please send a message to
Loriann Wunder if you or your staff would like to join the WISTDCOM and receive email
messages.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
has released a notice proposing a change to the recommended optimal
fluoride level in drinking water. In response to this proposed change,
the Oral Health Program (OHP) in the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS)
and the Public Water Supply Section in the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) have established guidance for Wisconsin Public Water
Systems (PWS) that participate in community water fluoridation. Please
see the attachment that discusses this change. In the meantime, LHD are
