Milwaukee AODA/TANF Services System - NEXUS>NEXUS builds on the foundation laid by the Milwaukee Family Services Coordination Initiative, which uses an integrated services or wraparound systems of care approach. This is done by providing alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) treatment services and community collaboration to TANF-eligible families in Milwaukee County who are involved in multiple service systems. The Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division is the administrator of NEXUS.
NEXUS serves Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) eligible individuals who reside in Milwaukee County, are in need of AODA treatment, and are involved in multiple service systems. The initial design, implementation, efforts and objectives for this grant include comprehensive system improvement, creation of systems level change, reduction of barriers to treatment, increase in treatment capacity, staff development training, and dissemination of best practices. NEXUS is built on a strong foundation of collaborative learning and community partnership needed for consumers to recover from AODA issues in a positive,
supportive, and nurturing environment. All families receive a single coordinated care plan that builds on family strengths, is needs driven, and based
on the unique values, norms, and preferences of the family, and community. Milwaukee Provider SitesNEXUS is a consortium of over forty social service providers in the Milwaukee Community that best meet the needs of the families. The Management Group (TMG) provides the training on the use of the single coordinated care plan and St. Charles Youth and Families provides care coordination to many of the NEXUS participants.
