Identifying Priority Substance Abuse Needs (PDF, 297KB)
In May of 2006 the Department of Health and Family Services initiated a project to identify priority substance abuse needs in the state. The project was conducted to help Department staff make informed decisions about how to target and invest substance abuse dollars, in particular federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) block grant funds. Substance Abuse Treatment Needs, Capacity, and Costs (PDF, 56KB)
This is the eighth in a series of substance abuse treatment reports prepared by the Bureau of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Previous studies analyzed substance abuse treatment data for 1996, and 1998 through 2003. This report summarizes data from calendar year 2004 on alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) treatment services in the state of Wisconsin. February, 2006.

Adolescent Treatment Outcomes Study (PDF, 83KB)
This document summarizes the results of a collaborative study between the State of Wisconsin Bureau of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and six adolescent treatment centers. The study developed and implemented an outcomes measurement system to evaluate the outcomes of treatment for adolescents with substance use disorders. June, 2005.

This document summarizes the results of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) survey among a representative sample of Wisconsin employers. The findings provide employers and state policy makers with information about how many Wisconsin employers have EAP programs and how the programs are structured and used. September, 2004.

What Works for Adult Treatment (PDF, 95KB)
This document gives the reader an overview of treatment approaches for alcohol and other drug use disorders that have evidence of effectiveness and are supported by research. Treatment professionals are advised to develop skills in a variety of these techniques in order to improve the quality of treatment. July, 2003.

What Works for Adolescent Treatment (PDF, 104KB)
This document gives the reader an overview of emerging adolescent treatment approaches for alcohol and other drug use disorders. Six approaches backed by solid research are highlighted in this report. Adolescent treatment professionals are advised to develop skills in these techniques in order to improve the quality of treatment. 2002.
