FIT WIC, FIT Families Wisconsin

Childhood obesity prevention must begin at a very young age. The WIC Program is therefore in a key position to assist the health care provider and the community with prevention efforts, by promoting healthful eating and physical activity to families with young children.

What is FIT WIC/FIT Families?

FIT WIC is a multi-state project to prevent overweight in young children ages 2-5 enrolled in the WIC Program. Wisconsin has adopted parts of the national model with the primary goals of:

  • increasing the time children play actively
  • increasing fruit and vegetable consumption among children
