Art Display: 1 W Wilson State Office Building

"Paddler's Delight," photography, Brian Castillo, Floor B1
On
display at 1 West Wilson Street you will find photos, oil paintings,
and watercolors.
New
to the display are photos from a “Superior Session” created by Brian
Castillo, who grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Northland College in
Ashland, WI with a degree in Outdoor Education. Brian has combined his
passions for photography and kayaking, which allows him to view the world
at a different perspective- that at water level. Brian describes the
images that were taken during his Lake Superior journey as “a reflection
of that simple time, where composition and spontaneity could tune out the
rigors of everything else and one could contemplate the true beauty in
life. This 3-piece exhibit will be on display March 2012
through May 2012 at level 1B.
Also
new to the display is the collection of artwork created by members of
Cornucopia, which is a Madison-area arts and wellness center run by and
for people with mental health issues and whose members may be DHS patients
or residents. Please visit this colorful mixed media collection, which
showcases two-dimensional and three-dimensional works including watercolor
paints, paper mache, colored pencils, pastel, charcoal, pencil and ink.
Cornucopia’s exhibition goals are to show the diversity of its members
and the healing that takes place at their Center. This exhibition will be
on display on level 1B from March 2012 through May 2012.
