Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI)
"Multi-colored Bird," Oil Bars, MMHI
Louise Wiesenfarth is a resident artist at Mendota where she gives art
classes as a volunteer.
Was on Display:
March - May 2011
In January 2009, Mendota Mental Health Institute began offering art
classes at the Treatment Mall as part of its curriculum.
Formerly from Westwing Studios at Badger Prairie Health Care Center,
Louise Wiesenfarth meets a group of students every week to explore
composition in its many facets. Collages are done with one continuous cut;
drawings and paintings emphasize simplicity and spontaneity. The
limitations of space and materials foster the students' sense of ingenuity
as well as their imagination. The uniqueness of their work and the
pleasure that it brings them define their experience of art.
