Children's Long-Term Support Waivers Information for County Agencies
Wisconsin’s Children’s Long-Term Support Waivers (CLTS Waivers) make Medicaid funding
available to support children who are living at home or in the community and who have
substantial limitations due to developmental, emotional, and/or physical disabilities.
Funding may be used to support a range of different services that are identified based
on an assessment of each individual child’s specific needs and identified goals or
outcomes.
In Wisconsin, each county has at least one agency that is delegated the responsibility
for implementing the CLTS Waivers according to procedures and guidelines created by
the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). DHS, as the State Medicaid Agency,
has the ultimate responsibility to ensure that Medicaid Waiver funding is utilized in
accordance with all rules established by the federal Centers for Medicaid and Medicare
Services (exit DHS). To meet this responsibility, DHS provides county waiver agencies
with a variety of resources and technical assistance opportunities.
