Children's Long-Term Support Council
The Children's Long-Term Support Council is charged with providing
recommendations to the Department of Health Services Secretary regarding the
needed infrastructures, accountability measures and mechanisms, financing
systems, training programs, and program design elements necessary to implement
service delivery systems in communities throughout the State. Members include
parents of children who have diverse long-term support needs. If you are a

Autism Council
The Autism Council was established by the Governor to advise DHS on supports
and services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The governor
instructed the Council to initially examine issues related to provider staff
training issues, recruiting and retaining line staff, outreach efforts to
recruit parents to work as line staff, and alternative approaches to the
current age restriction policy in the intensive phase. More recent activities
have involved developing modifications to the current treatment structure, and
working to develop guidelines for ensuring the children most appropriate for
early intervention receive these services in a timely manner. Members include
parents of children who have autism, treatment providers, county
representatives and interested advocates. If you are a parent interested in
joining the Council, please visit the Autism Council (exit DHS)
web site.
