General information
Chancroid is a highly contagious yet curable sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused
by bacterium called Haemophilus ducreyi. Chancroid causes ulcers,
usually of the genitals and is often associated with painfully swollen
lymph glands in the groin area.

This is a Wisconsin Disease Surveillance Category II disease:
Report to
the patient's local public health department electronically, through the Wisconsin
Electronic Disease Surveillance System
(WEDSS), by mail or fax using the Sexually Transmitted Disease
Laboratory and Morbidity Epidemiologic Case Report F44243
(Word, 138 KB) or by other means within 72 hours upon recognition of a
