important to find out early if you are at risk for Type 2 diabetes or if you

Take

This web-based resource was developed by the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention to help the person with diabetes take

Diabetes and Heart Disease
Diabetes increases a person's risk
for heart disease. About three-quarters of people with diabetes die of
some form of heart or blood vessel disease. For people with diabetes,
it is important to work with a healthcare provider to help in managing it
and controlling other risk factors. Select one of the following links

This link will direct you to another page with a link for the

sections. The Resource Guide was developed for families and schools
that care for students with diabetes and offers information, forms, and
tools.
Camp
Lakota (exit DHS)
Camp Lakota, sponsored by the American Diabetes Association and Wisconsin
Lions Foundation, Inc., is held each summer at the Wisconsin Lions Camp,
located on 440 acres in Rosholt, WI. Hiking, climbing walls, archery,
swimming, sailing, and paddle boating are some of the many activities
available to campers. A typical day includes: swimming, boating, arts
and crafts, having fun, and making new friends. The camp has onsite
nurses, doctors, and dietitians who are assigned to each cabin of 8-9
children. American Diabetes Association medical staff provide campers
with the information and skills during the week that they need to live
successfully with diabetes in any situation. For more information

Helping the
Student with Diabetes Succeed: A Guide for School Personnel (Updated

This National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) developed
this guide to educate and inform school personnel about diabetes, how it is
managed, and how each member of the school staff can help meet the needs of
students with the disease.

the child or adolescent with diabetes, including answers to parents'
