Re: SSI-EXCEPTIONAL EXPENSE SUPPLEMENT (SSI-E) IN CBRFs GREATER THAN 8 BEDS

Effective July 1, 2002, county agencies or their designees may certify recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for the Exceptional Expense Supplement (SSI-E) who reside in Community Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs) up to 20 beds in size. This change in SSI-E eligibility policy does not expand the types of allowable living arrangements for CIP IA, CIP IB or BIW.

This change in policy is reflected in the July 1, 2002 version of the State SSI-E Administration Policy document available on the internet at http://www.emhandbooks.wi.gov/ssi-e/

Element #21 on DSL Form 818 was also revised to accommodate this change.
