Subject: Protective Placements - Requirements of § 55.14(11), Stats.
Document Summary
The Legislature recently rewrote Ch. 55, Wis. Stats., regarding the
Protective Services System. It amended Section 55.14 on the involuntary
Administration of psychotropic medications. Such medications may only be
administered involuntarily upon the consent of the guardian, with a court
order that meets the requirements of that section of the law. Subsection
55.14(11) requires county departments or the agencies it contracts with to
provide a copy of any such court order to the department. This memo
informs the counties where to send such copies.
Whenever a court order is issued under Section 55.14(8), as reflected
in § 55.14(2), the county department or any agency with which it
contracts, shall provide a copy of said order to the department within a
reasonable amount of time after receiving it from the court. The copy must
be mailed to:

The county departments shall be responsible for ensuring compliance
with this requirement by all agencies with which they contract.
