State agencies and health care
The Wisconsin
Department of Health Services is responsible for programs related to
long-term care and support, physical and developmental disability, sensory disability,
mental health, substance abuse, quality assurance in health care facilities, public health,
FoodShare, and medical assistance and health care for low-income families, elderly,
and disabled persons. The Department also
regulates
and licenses a variety of programs and facilities and operates care and treatment facilities.
The
Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance regulates and
monitors health insurance plans and health maintenance
organizations.
The Wisconsin
Department of Safety and Professional Services (formerly Regulation and Licensing)
is responsible for
licensing most health care professionals including doctors,
nurses, dentists, podiatrists, and chiropractors.
The Wisconsin
State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) provides laboratory
services in clinical (human), environmental, and occupational
health, as well as testing programs for public and private
laboratories.
The
Bureau of Consumer Protection in the
Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer
Protection is a place to turn if you have a complaint about
unfair or deceptive business practices. These may include

industries related to agriculture.
