MCH Early Childhood Systems
Core Competencies
Background and Purpose
All local health departments that receive MCH Block Grant funds must complete
the MCH Early Childhood
Systems Competencies Tool (PDF, 417 KB)
as an agency. For 2013, each local health department must complete initial entry in
SPHERE
(exit DHS) by January 31,
2013. These results will be discussed during mid-year review, updated
throughout the year in SPHERE and marked , and marked "Final for Contract
Year" by contract reporting deadline.
The tool was created for the following purposes:

To facilitate agency level discussions regarding
collective knowledge and ability to implement MCH Early Childhood
Systems deliverables.

To serve as a planning tool for agencies in targeting
professional development opportunities designed to support the MCH Early
Childhood Systems work.

To encourage identification of opportunities for training
and mentorship, locally and statewide.

To meet requirements of the
2013 Objectives.
