Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention Program
The Nutrition and Physical Activity Program provides statewide
leadership to decrease overweight and obesity, increase physical activity
and improve nutrition. Located in the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the Program and its partners have developed and are
implementing the Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity State Plan to
accomplish the overall goal of preventing obesity and chronic disease.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services/Division of Public Health
announces the release of approximately $210,000 in funding through the Local
Implementation of the Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity State Plan
Grant. The funding is provided through a cooperative agreement with the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
A Notice of Intent to apply is recommended but not required and should be
received by 4:00 p.m. on June 11, 2010. All completed proposals
must be received by the Department no later than 4:00 p.m. on July 9,
2010. |

Obesity, Nutrition and Physical Activity in Wisconsin
- Illustrates the problem
of overweight and obesity in Wisconsin
adults and youth and describes the consequences of the problem. It also
provides rates for individual health behaviors related to obesity and lists
some resources that organizations and communities can use to support healthy
lifestyles in Wisconsin residents. The accompanying Executive
Summary provides an overview of key data
from the full report and provides recommendations to assist
efforts to counteract obesity in Wisconsin. |
