  • "Got Dirt?" - A program designed to assist with the implementation of school, community, and child care gardens. 
  • Got Veggies?   Got Veggies? is a garden-based nutrition education curriculum created with the goal of getting children to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Got Veggies? features seven full lesson plans that are aligned with Wisconsin 's Model Academic Standards for Nutrition, Health, Science, and other related subjects.  A series of shorter garden-based activities are also included, as well as fun recipes and helpful tips for cooking and eating in the garden.  This curriculum provides an all around great way to nurture students’ interest in growing and eating fresh fruits and vegetables!

  • Legislation database - The nutrition and physical activity legislative database is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) site that allows users to search for state-level bills related to nutrition and physical activity topics.

  • Lighten' Up Wisconsin 

    Lighten' Up Wisconsin is a five-month team challenge that encourages team members to make small, realistic and permanent changes in their dietary and exercise habits that will last a lifetime.  The challenge runs from January 15, 2007 to May 15, 2007.

  • Make Your Calories Count - Make Your Calories Count is an interactive learning program that provides consumers with information to help plan a healthy diet while managing calorie intake. The exercises will help consumers use the food label to make decisions about which food choice is right for them.

  • Menu Planner - An interactive menu planner designed to guide daily food and meal choices based on your daily calorie allowance. For directions on how to use the Menu Planner, click on About the Menu Planner.

  • Movin' and Munchin' Schools (PDF, 873 KB)

    Movin’ and Munchin’ Schools is an innovative program designed to increase the level of physical activity and improve nutrition choices among Wisconsin’s school children and their families and school staff. It also rewards participating schools with funds to improve their nutrition and physical education programs.

  • MyPyramid.Gov (Food Guide Pyramid) - Interested in a plan that provides you with recommendations for healthier eating? Released in April 2005 by the USDA, this new dietary guidance system, called MyPyramid: Steps to a Healthier You, has replaced the Food Guide Pyramid. Visit this interactive website for a personal plan, as well as tips and suggestions for eating healthier and being physically active.

  • My Pyramid Tracker (Diet Analysis) - The online dietary assessment provides information on your diet quality, related nutrition messages, and links to nutrient information.

  • National Eating Disorder Association - Provide information on detecting eating disorders such as anorexia, binge eating, and bulimia

  • Nutrition facts - Smart Mouth - An interactive website full of healthy kid-friendly snack ideas, interesting nutrition facts, and ways you can get involved with promoting healthy eating.

  • Nutrition.gov  - Link to federal government clearinghouse with nutrition  information from multiple government agencies

  • Nutrition for Kids - Useful information for parents, teachers, and fun activities for kids.
  • Nutrition Standards for Foods in Schools (PDF, 335 KB) - A report from the Centers for Disease Control and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) that makes recommendations about appropriate nutritional stands for foods at school.

  • Walking route - Map and measure your own route.  Use this tool to view a map and create your own walking route.  The tool lets you choose the route and automatically calculates the distance.

  • Wisconsin Partnership for Activity and Nutrition 

    (Formerly the Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity Workgroup  - WINPAW)

    The Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity Workgroup was formed in 1999 to discuss strategies that could be implemented to address the alarming increase in childhood overweight. In September 2005 the group changed their name to the Wisconsin Partnership for Activity and Nutrition to better reflect their mission.  The membership has reached over 100 persons representing a diverse group of organizations and communities.  In December 2003, the membership selected an organization structure that includes six subcommittees: environmental, school-based, healthcare, families and communities, business and industry and surveillance.  The partnership and its subcommittees are the main planning vehicle for the development of the Nutrition and Physical Activity state plan. As the partnership has evolved, its mission has changed as well. The draft mission is to provide state leadership for nutrition and physical activity across the lifecycle. Currently, the group mission and vision are being formalized as well as bylaws.  Contact the Nutrition and Physical Activity staff if you would like more information about the Wisconsin Partnership for Activity and Nutrition. 

  • WIC: FIT WIC - Information and resources from FIT WIC, a multi-state project to prevent overweight in young children ages 2-5 enrolled in the WIC Program. 

  • Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity State Plan

    The Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity State Plan is a long range planning document focusing on the best ways to be active, eat well and prevent obesity.  A complete copy of the plan and an executive summary are available.

  • Wisconsin Nutrition Education Network - The Wisconsin Nutrition Education Network facilitates collaborative planning of nutrition education programs at the state and local levels.

  • Worksite Wellness Pilot Programs - Two summary documents of worksite strategies being piloted in local communities.  The pilot initiatives are funded by a Healthy Lifestyles (Cancer) grant and a Healthier Wisconsin Worksite Initiative (National Governor's Association) grant.
