Statewide Advisory Committee on
Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Birth Outcomes
The Statewide Advisory Committee on Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Birth
Outcomes has been established to advise the Department of Health Services in the
implementation of the Framework for Action. The committee
will annually review the purpose of the Framework, track progress,
recommend revisions, and engage additional partners. Advisory
Committee members may also be asked to take on the role of ambassadors,
help to raise awareness, identify resources, and facilitate action at
all levels of the community.
Although originally committee members were appointed, all interested
individuals are now welcome to participate as committee and workgroup
members. Currently, representatives from 40 - 50 diverse organizations
regularly attend committee meetings and contribute time and effort on one
or more workgroups. Committee meetings are held 2 - 3 times per year and
are open to the public.
