Brand-Name Prescription Drug Reimbursement Reform
Wisconsin’s Medicaid program, beginning October 1,
2011 will convert from the use of Average Wholesale Price (AWP) to the
use of Wholesale Acquisition Cost (WAC) as the pricing benchmark for
reimbursing pharmacies for brand-name drugs. The Department does not
change the current $3.44 dispensing fee paid for each brand-name drug.
