Competency To Stand Trial ProgramIndividuals charged with crimes must be competent to understand the court process and the possible outcomes of that process. If any representative of the judicial process questions whether an individual is competent, the court may order a competency evaluation. If the court orders the department (DHS) to conduct such an evaluation, a statewide program exists whereby most of these evaluations are conducted in the local jails. The procedures for obtaining competency evaluations and the data on the program's effectiveness can be found through the links below: Court Forms for the Conditional Release Program (CR), required by all Wisconsin circuit courts are available from the Wisconsin Court Forms Page, for printing and down-load.
