CITY OF WATERTOWN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH PASSES REVIEW BY STATE HEALTH OFFICIALS

MADISON—Dr. Seth Foldy, State Health Officer, today announced that the City of Watertown Department of Public Health has successfully passed the state’s health department review. As a result, the City of Watertown Department of Public Health will maintain its Level II status.

“The hard-working staff of the City of Watertown Department of Public Health help make their community a healthier and safer place to live,” said Foldy. “Their department has an actively engaged and supportive Board of Health, and does an excellent job of engaging a supportive community network to solve local public health problems.”

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is required to formally review the operations of all 92 Wisconsin local health departments at the county or municipality level at least every five years. The review establishes the health department as a level I, II or III agency. A level I agency meets the minimum requirements and a level III agency meets the maximum requirements established for a local health department.

The City of Watertown Department of Public Health provides services important to the community, such as:

  • Bright Beginnings Home Visitation Program. This program offers support, education, and connection to available resources to all first-time parents before birth and during their baby’s first year and also offers home visitation services, through the first year of the family transition, to those parents facing the greatest challenges.
  • Get Healthy Watertown. The program provides public information regarding healthy lifestyles, raising awareness about lifestyle-related health issues and how changes can easily be introduced into everyday life.
  • Influenza Campaign. This campaign focuses on providing influenza vaccine to the high-risk populations in Watertown, especially in years of limited or delayed supplies.
