SECRETARY HAYDEN
Hosts Town Hall Meeting to Discuss BadgerCare Plus
MADISON - Department of Health and Family Services Secretary Kevin
R. Hayden today hosted a town hall meeting at Bridge Community Health
Clinic in Wausau to discuss how children and families can sign up for
BadgerCare Plus, beginning February 1, 2008.
“Affordable, comprehensive health care for all children in Wisconsin
is within our reach,” Secretary Hayden said. “In fact, within two
weeks, every child in Wisconsin will have access to health care when
Governor Doyle’s BadgerCare Plus program launches. I strongly encourage
any family that does not have health insurance to visit www.BadgerCarePlus.org
to sign up for BadgerCare Plus starting next Friday.”
BadgerCare Plus offers health coverage to every child in Wisconsin by
streamlining Medicaid, BadgerCare and Healthy Start into one comprehensive
program. BadgerCare Plus will allow every Wisconsin family, regardless of
income, to buy affordable, comprehensive health care coverage for their
kids. Low income families will be able to enroll their children into
BadgerCare Plus at no charge. Families with higher incomes can buy into
the program by paying reasonable premiums and co-payments for certain
services. In addition, farmers, self-employed parents, and pregnant women
can sign up for BadgerCare Plus.
Bridge Community Health Clinic, located in Wausau, is a Federally
Qualified Health Center that provides medical and dental services to
people, regardless of their income or access to insurance. Bridge
Community Health Clinic is also a certified community partner that people
can visit to get help signing up for BadgerCare Plus. Completed
applications for BadgerCare Plus can be submitted through certified
community partners that are located all around the state.
