WINNEBAGO COUNTY TO PROVIDE OUTREACH SERVICES IN FOUR-COUNTY AREA FOR WELL
WOMAN PROGRAM
MADISONOutreach and education efforts for the Wisconsin Well
Woman Program in Winnebago, Fond du Lac, Outagamie and Sheboygan
counties will be provided by the Winnebago County Health Department,
under an agreement announced today by Department of Health Services
Secretary Dennis G. Smith.
“Our agreement with Winnebago County includes a transition plan to
ensure that service coordination continues without interruption to help
women access vital breast and cervical cancer screening services in this
four-county area,” said Secretary Smith. “I would particularly like to
thank Representative Penny Bernard Schaber for her guidance and support
on this issue.”
The $130,000 state-funded contract will allow Winnebago County to
provide outreach and education on the importance of preventative
screenings to women in each of the four counties. No cuts have been made
to this funding. County health departments are the providers for these
services in most of the state.
The Program’s cancer screening services are funded separately with
federal funds and are offered by local health care providers throughout
Wisconsin.
