WI-1 DMAT is part of the National Disaster Medical System
(NDMS), a
federally-coordinated system that provides medical capabilities in the
event of a large-scale emergency that overwhelms normal local medical
resources. A DMAT consists of medical personnel, logistical and administrative
personnel, and all of the equipment required to deliver medical care in
austere environments.
The National Disaster Medical System is administered through the Office of the
Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the United States
Department of Health and Human Services.
The WI-1 DMAT is supported by a partnership of several state and
national agencies, including NDMS, the State of Wisconsin Department of
Health Services, and the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs. Visit
the WI-1 DMAT website for more
information. (exit DHS)
