Radiation

Radiation is a fact of everyday life.  It cannot be eliminated, only reduced to acceptable levels.  The state of Wisconsin works to minimize the public's unnecessary exposure to radiation through several programs.

Simply put, ionizing radiation consists of ejected particles and released energy from unstable isotopes.  The four main types of radiation of concern are alpha, beta, gamma and neutron.

Below is the symbol for radiation.

Questions are welcome on all aspects of radiation protection.
