General Licenses - Authorization & Registration

Authorization:

General Licenses are issued in DHS 157.11 and DHS 157.93 authorizing the receipt, possession, use or transfer of certain radioactive materials and devices containing radioactive materials.  A person does not need to apply for a general license.

Registration:

Radioactive materials (in isotopes and quantities listed below) that are contained in devices under general license authorization must be annually registered with the department.  Registration is for the calendar year.  Registration requirements and annual fees  are listed in DHS 157.12.

Inspection:

The department will provide a self-inspection form (questions) with each annual registration fee bill.  General licensees will be asked to complete the form and return it to the department.  Failure to complete and return the form may result in a site inspection.
