To: Hospice Providers HSPCS 24

From: Susan Schroeder,  Director, Bureau of Quality Assurance

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the most recent version of the administrative rule governing hospice providers. Effective August 1, 1999, minor changes were made to this rule without DHFS going through rulemaking under the Revisor of Statutes statutory authority. The changes include:

  • Changing the Chapter number prefix from HSS 131 to HFS 131.

  • Updating the Department name in the "Department" definition from the Department of Health & Social Services (DHSS) to the Department of Health & Family Services (DHFS).

  • Updating Bureau and Division names and the P.O. Box number in five notes.

  • Changing the Administrative hearings office from DHFS Office of Administrative Hearings to Department of Administration (DOA), Division of Hearings and Appeals.

  • References under "Physical environment" regarding Industry, Labor & Human Relations (ILHR) building and plumbing codes have been changed to Wisconsin Department of Commerce building and plumbing codes.

Attached is a copy of DHS 131 (exit DHFS) for your records. It is also available on the internet at (exit DHFS). To order additional paper copies, contact Barb Carey [BQA no longer providing copies 2004]. If you have questions regarding rule content, please call Barb Woodford [replaced by Marianne Missfeldt, (715) 836-4036].
