Attached is a copy of the
Mealane Corporation voluntary recall program (exit DHS) to replace "Star" brand fire
protection sprinklers. The Mealane Corporation, formerly known as Star Sprinkler
Corporation, in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, is
recalling "dry-type" sprinkler models: D-1, RD-1, RE-1, E-1, and ME-1. These
sprinklers were manufactured from 1961 to 1976, installed in health care facilities
nationally, and today many may not operate properly in a fire. We ask that you share this
information with your staff, taking whatever action is appropriate.
