Heat Awareness
The purpose of this memo is to share a recent press release issued by the
Department of Health Services regarding the health risks associated with hot
weather and to provide information about Heat Awareness.
As we approach the summer, the matter of excessive heat arises. Heat is
the number one weather-related killer in the United States. According to
NOAA National Weather Service heat causes more fatalities per year than
floods, lightning, tornadoes, and hurricanes combined.
Attached you will find information that brings to your attention the
significance of taking precautions and reminding people of the dangers
associated with extreme heat.
