The purpose of this memo is to provide information from the federal
Health Care Financing Administration, Chicago Regional Office. The attachment
(exit DHS; PDF - scroll down to Section 3202) explains changes in the requirements for a skilled nursing facility to make changes to the
size and/or locations of their Medicare beds. These changes became effective with State
Operations Manual release, Transmittal #16, dated June 1, 2000.
