Wisconsin Statues, Section 146.903 Hospital Disclosure of Information Regarding Health Care Charges and QualityAs many of you are aware, Governor Jim Doyle signed 2009 Wisconsin Act 146 into law on March 9, 2010, establishing requirements for hospitals, other health care providers and insurers to disclose certain information to consumers regarding costs for services and quality of services. The new law created section 146.903 of the Wisconsin Statutes and takes effect January 1, 2011. The law requires hospitals to do all of the following:
The Department of Health Services has created a website that contains links to the complete text of section 146.903 of the Wisconsin Statutes, a summary of the new law prepared by the Wisconsin Legislative Council and the Department's plan for implementing the new law. The website also contains a section called Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). The site is a good resource for answers to the most common questions the Department has received.
