The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Committee

The Department of Health Services (DHS) continues to work toward achieving the goal of reducing adolescent pregnancy in Wisconsin. One of the state's operational mechanisms for helping to achieve this goal is through the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Committee (APPC)

This committee works in partnership with the Department of Workforce Development, the Department of Public Instruction (the state education agency) and a broad range of public and private stakeholders in the areas of abstinence education, HIV/STD intervention and teen pregnancy prevention.

The goals of APPC are aligned with the DHS overall strategies which focus on increasing abstinence and access to consistent and correct use of contraception. The core strategies that APPC utilizes to achieve its objectives are to:

• Increase Statewide Coordination
• Decrease Organizational Duplication
• Maximize Limited Resources
