New FDA Tobacco Regulations Take Effect

Light… Low… Mild… Put Out the Myth. Learn more…

Key components of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act took effect Tuesday, June 22, 2010.  The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act gives the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to regulate tobacco industry processes.  The new provisions further restrict tobacco marketing and sales to youth, ban cigarette labels such as "light", "mild", and "low", and require larger health warnings for smokeless tobacco products and advertising (large, graphic warnings for cigarette packs and advertising are being developed and will take effect next year).  Click the button above for more information on the law (exit DHS).
