Wisconsin Cancer Reporting System

This site provides information about the Wisconsin population-based cancer registry, the Wisconsin Cancer Reporting System (WCRS).  This site also provides direct access to information about cancer incidence and mortality in Wisconsin.

The WCRS contributes to:

  • The understanding of cancer incidence and mortality in Wisconsin,
  • The development of prevention and treatment programs, and
  • The ultimate goal of reducing cancer mortality.

New WCRS V14 Edits Program

WCRS has created a stand-alone GenEDITS program to run the Wisconsin-specific Version 14 edits against files ready to submit to WCRS. This tool should be used by facilities not abstracting cases with AbstractPlus (the same edits are already built into AbstractPlus). The GenEDITS tool provides summary and detailed error reports, allowing the user to fix all edits before submitting the file to the State. Complete instructions for downloading, installing, and running the program are available in the GenEDITS user manual.

New Certified Tumor Registrar Education Program

WCRS is pleased to announce the Cancer Information Management education program at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, which will provide specialized training for Certified Tumor Registrar certification. Please visit the Southwest Wisconsin Technical College website (exit DHS) for details about the new Cancer Information Management program starting in the fall of 2014.
