BadgerCare Plus Changes for Childless Adults: Partner Tool Kit

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services encourages community-based organizations to help people navigate programs such as BadgerCare Plus, Wisconsin Medicaid, FoodShare, and Family Planning Only Services.

This tool kit is meant to help equip partners with resources to help inform members about the upcoming changes.

Member Update

On November 1, 2019, DHS mailed approximately 150,000 childless adults information regarding the upcoming changes.

BadgerCare Reform Waiver Overview presentation

DHS attended the fall Wisconsin Enrollment conference and presented information on the upcoming changes to enrollment assisters, community partners, and other partner agencies.

Changes to BadgerCare Plus for Childless Adults

Did you know that there are changes to BadgerCare Plus that will affect adults ages 19-64 who are not pregnant and do not have dependent children living in their home? There are new rules that will begin on February 1, 2020. Some changes include:

  • An emergency room copay for visits to then emergency room that are not an emergency
  • Monthly premiums (depending on your income)
  • A treatment needs question
  • An optional health survey to help lower your monthly premium
