Mendota Mental Health Institute - Medium Security Units

Medium Assessment and Treatment Unit (MATU)
A medium security admission and step down unit for court ordered adult male forensic patients. The unit provides treatment to restore patients to competency and evaluations of patients? competency to stand trial. Other functions include the initial observation period for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients who do not require a maximum security setting, and who may have a coexisting medical issue needing special care.

Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU)
A medium security unit for adult male forensic patients who are mentally ill or impaired and require intensive psychiatric intervention.

Treatment-Rehabilitation-Assessment-Care Unit #2 (TRAC 2)
A medium security unit for adult male forensic patients who are mentally ill or impaired and require intensive psychiatric intervention.

Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit (TRU)
A treatment unit for adult male forensic patients with significant sex offense histories and/or personality disorder diagnoses who have demonstrated an ability and willingness to manage themselves in a medium security environment.
