Statement From Department of Health Services Secretary Rhoades on the Passage of Representative Nygren's HOPE Legislation

MADISON-Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary Kitty Rhoades today issued the following statement regarding the passage of the Heroin Opiate Prevention and Education (HOPE) legislation, Assembly Bills 445, 446, 447, and 448.

"The heroin epidemic is a public health crisis in Wisconsin that needs to be addressed to avoid the toll addiction not only takes on the users, but also on their family and friends. I applaud the Wisconsin State Assembly and congratulate Representative Nygren on the passage of this important legislation. Representative Nygren has shown great leadership, courage, and integrity in bringing these issues to the forefront, and in doing so will undoubtedly save the lives of many Wisconsin residents."
