Chancroid is a highly contagious yet curable sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a bacterium called Haemophilus ducreyi. Chancroid causes ulcers, usually of the genitals, and is often associated with painfully swollen lymph glands in the groin area. Chancroid is an uncommon STD in Wisconsin.
