TIAC: Review Process
Requesting a Review
Providers or the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) can request a Treatment Intervention Advisory Committee (TIAC) review of research evidence supporting a therapy or related treatment. DHS will determine whether the request is in scope for a TIAC review. If it is, the requester will be invited to submit a packet of materials (PDF) for consideration. This allows the requester to identify pertinent research articles and provide additional information about the intervention approach.
Please email dhstiac@dhs.wisconsin.gov to request a review.
Review Process and Criteria
Once DHS determines that a review is in scope for the TIAC, DHS staff and members of TIAC will identify research studies through their own investigation, communications with providers of the treatment, or associations or industry groups that represent providers. TIAC members review the research studies to assess and document the level of evidence, following the established procedures and criteria outlined in the review process packet (PDF).
Reviews are conducted independently by TIAC members, and the findings are discussed at open meetings of the TIAC three times per year. The members reach consensus and report out their findings to DHS. The committee’s findings and ratings are available on the Determinations page.
