Medicaid and FoodShare Partner Resources
About the federal government shutdown
DHS is closely monitoring the current federal government shutdown. Our goal is to keep the public informed, especially our members who receive vital health and nutrition support and services.
Here is what FoodShare, WIC, and Medicaid members need to know:
- FoodShare benefits for November will be delayed. FoodShare benefits are 100 percent funded by the federal government and the shutdown must end before members can begin getting benefits again. For updated information about using FoodShare benefits right now, visit the FoodShare News page. Call 211 to find out about other sources of food assistance in your area.
- October benefits are available for all WIC participants, and based on what we know today, November benefits will be available. You can continue to use your WIC benefits, attend WIC appointments, and do not need to take any action. Contact your local WIC agency with any questions.
- Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus members still have coverage to get the care and services they need. For updates, visit the Medicaid News page.
If the shutdown continues, DHS will update this message with information about funding for WIC in November.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) partners with organizations across the state. These partners help residents with applications and enrollment for the programs DHS administers. As a part of its partnerships, DHS provides:
- Handbooks and publications explaining eligibility policy and processes, and enrollment resources
- Partner calls to support agencies with policy updates and questions
- The ForwardHealth Partner inbox to answer partner questions
- Support with applications for federal funding, where available, to support partner outreach activities
