The Developmental Evaluation Clinic (DEC) provides a four-day
interdisciplinary evaluation for individuals with intellectual
disabilities who may have some behavioral challenges. Following
the DEC admission, the interdisciplinary team meets with those who
support the client to discuss the findings of the evaluation. Team
members are also available for consultation as requested.
Services provided:
- A comprehensive evaluation by experienced staff that will
include a physician, registered nurses, occupational therapist,
physical therapist, psychologist, pharmacist and social worker; it may also
include a dentist, psychiatrist, vocational evaluator, speech
therapist, and orthotics staff.
- Recommendations from the evaluators to enhance quality of life
and minimize behavioral concerns.
- A review of medications and recommendations.
The DEC program supports people with intellectual disabilities who
require some close support.
The Developmental Evaluation Clinic is the smallest
of the three short term programs at CWC.
It usually supports 18 to 20 people per year operating one week per
month, serving up to two people each cycle.
