Breastfeeding Promotion and Support Materials

Breastfeeding Education Cards

A set of 12 single-concept breastfeeding education cards. The cards were developed by the Wisconsin WIC Program and the Maternal and Child Health Program.  

Breastfeeding-Friendly Communities

A compilation of information designed to help local communities protect, promote and support breastfeeding. The materials in the packet were designed as a resource to breastfeeding coalitions, WIC projects and others who are promoting breastfeeding in the community.

Breastfeeding-Friendly Health Departments  

A ten-step resource kit to assist local health departments, agencies and tribal clinics in their efforts to promote, protect and support breastfeeding in Wisconsin communities and receive "Breastfeeding-Friendly" designation. (PDF, 39 KB)

Breastfeeding-Friendly Child Care Centers  

A ten-step resource kit to assist child care providers and community groups to implement strategies to promote, protect and support breastfeeding women. The kit includes a self-appraisal tool and information and resources for planning and implementing action plans based on the ten steps. Child care staff can earn continuing education units. Breastfeeding Mothers in Childcare Centers  

A PowerPoint presentation for childcare centers on how to support breastfeeding mothers. This 1.1 MB file may download slowly.

Fathers Supporting Breastfeeding (exit DHS)

This website is a USDA/FNS project targeted to African American fathers so that they may positively affect a mother’s decision to breastfeed. The project is part of a continuing effort to increase breastfeeding initiation and duration rates among African American women by involving fathers in breastfeeding promotion efforts.

Materials that are designed to promote breastfeeding awareness, and to support and strengthen the role of fathers in the family include:

  • two posters,
  • two educational brochures, and
  • a video with a discussion guide.
