About Us

The Minority Health Program, guided by state and federal mandates, provides statewide leadership for policy measures that aim to improve the health of vulnerable populations in Wisconsin. It assures coordination of efforts intended to reduce health disparities.

Definition of Disparities

In the context of the Wisconsin Minority Health Program's mission, health disparities are defined as "differences in health outcomes that are adverse and avoidable, which exist between population groups based on gender, age, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, geography, sexual orientation and identification, disability, special health care needs, or other categories."
