Substance Abuse Services are for people who use alcohol and drugs and their family members who are affected. Community-based programs are at the core of the Wisconsin substance use disorder service delivery philosophy. Services range from education to treatment and include intervention, outpatient care, day treatment, detoxification, inpatient care, residential and recovery programs.
October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month
According to SAMHSA, “substance use, including underage drinking and the
non-medical use of prescription and over-the-counter medications, significantly
affects the health and well-being of our nation’s youth and people of all ages.”
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and its Division of Mental Health
and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS) is committed to reducing the impact of
substance misuse and abuse on Wisconsin’s citizens and communities.
