Registration

The lead certification exam is a mandatory State-administered exam for those applying for Lead Abatement Supervisor, Hazard Investigator, Inspector, or Risk Assessor initial or interim certification.  When a person applies for certification in one of these disciplines, that person will be registered to take the next available exam at the location selected on the application.  Registration for an exam normally closes 2 weeks before the scheduled exam date.  To register for a lead certification exam, complete the Mandatory Certification Exam Section on the Certification Application - Individual Form and apply for certification.

If you are registering to take the exam again, you may complete the shorter Lead Certification Exam Registration form.  The rest of the registration process still applies.

At least a week prior to the scheduled exam, a participant will receive a confirmation letter for the exam that includes the date, time, location, and details on what to bring with you on the day of the exam.

Interim Certification

On the Certification Application - Individual Form, the applicant may apply for a one-time interim (temporary) certification card.  This interim certification is  valid for six months from the date required training is completed.  An applicant has up to three attempts to pass the exam during the six-month period.  If an applicant does not pass the exam within the six-month period, an appropriate initial training class must be retaken.  The example below involves an applicant and his exam retakes.
