Injury-related Emergency Department Data

Wisconsin Hospital Emergency Department Visits, Office of Health Informatics, Division of Public Health, Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

The database was enhanced (December 2012) by the addition of Minnesota Hospital Emergency Department Visits obtained from the Minnesota Hospital Association. This added available records from 2002 forward for Wisconsin residents treated in Minnesota hospitals. The dataset does not include Rochester Mayo hospitals before 2006. The October 2013 revision dropped non-Wisconsin residents from the database.

Injury-related Hospitalization Data

This added available records from 2000 forward for Wisconsin residents treated in Minnesota hospitals, adding about 3% to the statewide total. The dataset does not include Rochester Mayo hospitals before 2006. The October 2013 revision dropped non-Wisconsin residents from the database.

Wisconsin Violent Death Reporting System

Death certificates, Office of Health Informatics, Division of Public Health, Wisconsin Department of Health Services; coroner and medical examiner (CME) reports from county and city CME offices; crime lab information from two Wisconsin crime labs; law enforcement information from jurisdictional police agencies. Information from these sources is abstracted by staff in the Office of Health Informatics to create a single file for each case of violent death that occurs in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin system is part of the National Violent Death Reporting System.
